Twerking’s Rise to Fame

Around this time last year the teenage star of Disney’s Hannah Montana, Miley Cyrus, cast off her sweet and innocent persona for a somewhat provocative new one; music, drugs and barely any clothes.

She described herself as not having a “bunch of celeb friends” because she feels many people are scared of the association. Well of course they are! Her fiancé Liam Hemsworth, star actor from The Hunger Games, recently dumped her saying how shocked he was at her behaviour!

The ex- Disney star recently admitted that she “pops molly and does lines all day” as she described what other people thought of her to the New York Times, whilst like, littering her like, sentences with the word “like”. Although she shed her Disney innocence and most of her clothes with it, like a snake shedding its skin, it still seems that she needs Daddy to stick up for her! “If you’re going to smoke weed, you’re going to smoke weed and there’s nothing two little girls are going to get you to do that you don’t want to do” stated Billy Ray Cyrus in an attempt to protect daughter Miley. This was after the former Jonas Brother, Joe, accused her of introducing him to marijuana. However hard Daddy tried to protect her though, it seems the evidence is still against her after admitting she does drugs a few months previously.

Perhaps all these drugs are the reason she seems to have got it into her head that twerking is a good idea? If you don’t already know what it is then where have you been all year?! But as Charlie Brooker from the Guardian so delicately put it, twerking is “bending over and shuddering ones buttocks around until they start applauding sarcastically”. Perhaps she’s under the influence of drugs so much that she doesn’t know what she’s doing? But the sad truth is she does know. She’s well aware of what she’s doing and is still perfectly happy influencing hundreds of little girls to begin a life of twerking, sex and drugs… Parents, if your child has grown up idolising her you have been warned…
